retail business functions, Larry excels at diagnosing operational and technology issues,

to drive strategic change. He maintains a cross-functional view of business processes
and strategies to ensure optimal results for the entire enterprise, not just one business
function. Larry applies his expertise in strategic and operational planning, business
process reengineering, and organizational leadership to drive business growth and
enhance profitability.

In his 30+ years of professional experience, Larry has:

  • Formulated and directed the strategic plan for organization, process, and technology infrastructure change to prepare a major retail chain for growth from 150 to 400 stores. The plan included merchandising process redefinition, new operational process and system integration, business standards development, and multi-site distribution readiness
  • Created the financial and operational business plan and directed cross-functional strategies and operations to drive comp sales and gross margin increases of 100-200% in target stores and 40% across the chain in multiple departments of an off-price chain
  • Facilitated implementation of new vendor-to-store distribution practices through redesign of planning, procurement, allocation, and vendor communication processes, resulting in reduction in on-hand inventory and faster flow of merchandise to stores
  • Directed major review of product development, merchandising, planning, procurement, marketing, and technology processes for a major catalog and e-commerce business to diagnose operations problems and prioritize steps for improved functionality and integration

Larry is President of Pivotal Strategies and an experienced leader in retail, business services, and consulting. Larry’s retail experience includes roles as Vice President of Business Development for Retail Ventures and Director of Process Review for Limited Brands. His prior experience includes business process improvement and technology integration consulting roles as Senior Manager with Deloitte & Touche and Senior Consultant with KPMG Peat Marwick. Larry also served in technology development and integration roles with Control Data Corporation and R.J. Reynolds Industries.
