- In 1991,
John developed the concept for and created DSW (Designer Shoe
Warehouse).
In 2005, the business went public in a $1.2 billion IPO.

nurture the concept, develop the talent, build supporting
infrastructure, ensure profitability, and create an industry-leading
enterprise.

strategic planning, financial management, and operational
leadership skills have enabled him to lead customer-oriented

John is
currently Chief Executive Officer of The Picture Factory,
an emerging retail chain of home accessory superstores. Prior
to this role, John served as President & Chief Executive
Officer of Retail Ventures, Inc. with overall responsibility
for a $3 billion diversified retail holding company with more
than 20,000 employees. He also served as President & CEO
of Shonac Corporation, a supplier to and operator of licensed
shoe departments for retail businesses. As part of Shonac,
John led the formation of DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse) in
1991 and served in various executive capacities. Before joining
Shonac, John was Partner-in-Charge of the Columbus office
of Grant Thornton International, a worldwide public accounting,
tax advisory, and consulting services firm.
